Hoi An to Hanoi

We hired a moped and drove to Hue along the Hai Van pass. Famous Top Gear route. It was beautiful! The whole journey had amazing scenery and it was such an easy ride we really enjoyed it! On the way we stopped at the Marble Mountains which had lovely views, temples and caves all the way up. We also stopped at the Elephant Springs for a quick dip in the water.

We didn’t have long in Hue and only managed to wander around part of the Imperial City before catching our bus to Hanoi. What we did see was lovely.

We were running out of time on our visas and had limited options for Cat Ba/Ha Long Bay which we really wanted to do. We ended up getting talked into a 2 day/1 night trip on Ha Long Bay which was not really what we wanted but we didn’t have much choice as no other booking offices were open! So we waited around for the bus and headed to Ha Long city. All in all the bay and cave were beautiful and amazing to see but we had the most awful tour guide and boat. The whole thing was a complete shambles!! For anyone wanting to go to Ha Long Bay I’d definitely recommend going to Cat Ba instead and booking with a good reliable company!

So we didn’t have the greatest end to Vietnam after having screaming matches with the tour guide for our money back! But we tried to cheer ourselves back up in Hanoi with the amazing food!! It definitely helped.

We wished we had a few more days to explore further north to Sapa but unfortunately we had to miss that out and fly out to Laos.

  1. What a shame it wasn’t all it should have been. I guess you have to expect ups and downs but it seems to me the downs are fortunately few and far between and there is always food, to cheer things up, like you said 😋 On to the next leg, more adventures and memories to be made. Lots of love xxx
